In celebration of its 7th anniversary celebration, the Philippine Society of General Surgeons, Inc. decided to hold a simultaneous nationwide free minor surgery mission among the different chapters last May 20, 2006. It was entittled "Bukol Mo, Tanggal Ko; Handog Ng Inyong Cirujano. The Bicol Chapter did its share by holding a free minor surgery mission at the Sts. Peter and Paul Hospital in Sorsogon City, hometown of present Bicol Chapter prexy Dr, Lorenzo "Ronnie" Chacon.

The team from Bicol Medical Center in Naga City was headed by the member of the Board of Directors Dr. Roberto "Bob" Sarmiento and hardworking vice-president Dr. Giovanni Gertulio "Ivan" Zenarosa. Also around were Chapter secretary Dr. Ronnie Gregorio "Gigs" Gigantone and immediate past president Dr. Edgardo "Gary " Paredes. Two other guest surgeons tagged along namely pioneering Bicol pediatric surgeon Dr. Wulfrano "Wolf" Ricafort and general surgeon Dr. Ronnie Amoranto. The group motored to Sorsogn City in Dr. Sarmiento's van and were warmly welcomed by the doctors and staff
of Sts. Peter and Paul hospital.

After a short snack upon arrival in Sorsogon City, the group immediately went to work. They were assisted also by locally practicing physicians namely Dr. Jose Raul "Rusty" Rustia, an orthopedic surgeon and medical director of the host hospital; Dr. Euric Alerta, a general surgeon and his wife Dr. Grace Alerta an anesthesiologist. The three are graduates of the Bicol Medical Center's training programs so they were no strangers to the boys from Penafrancia country,

The event coincided with the host hospital's own hospital day celebration so there was a simultaneous medical mission ongoing. The place was literally jampacked with both medical and surgical patients, thus the group ended up performing minor surgery on 66 patients, way above the maximum of 60! Nevertheless, the group was composed of fast performers. They finished all 66 by 2:30 p.m. and had time to go to the beach. They also stayed overnight in Sorsogon City and left early the next morning bringing with them fond memories of their short but fruitful saty in Sosogon City!

Bicol Chapter prexy Dr. Ronnie Chacon missed all the fun and excitement though. He was at Capitol Medical Center attending to his wife and newborn 4th son in a row!
